Professionally, I have been a Realtor since March 1, 1995, but my journey in real estate began a long time ago. I bring skills learned in a variety of occupations, all of which I enjoyed while I was in them, but when I moved into the next phase of my life were skills I brought with me.
I was a lender for nine years. That background has allowed me to have knowledge of what makes a good lender and the people I have surrounded myself as a Realtor are people who watch out for my clients like I would, not talking them into a loan they can't afford or a loan program that wasn't good for my client and their family.
When we moved to Boise in 1991, I became a real estate appraiser. In that phase of my life I completed over 1,200 appraisal assignments. It allowed me to get to know the area well and to determine how to evaluate the factors that make up the value of a home. Based on things I learned while an appraiser, there are certain factors about housing that I share with my clients as absolutes, which has allowed my clients to have homes that are not backing to a busy street, or at the receiving end of headlights at a "T" intersection, or are dysfunctional in terms of floor plan or layout, which has allowed them to re-sell better when they needed to sell.
Personally, I have been married to the same woman since August 1979. We have two adult children. No grandchildren as of this writing, but promises in the future. I enjoy reading, being coached, and helping others. I meet with people from our church in a small group setting one night a week. I also lead a group of men from our church on another night of the week. I spend time with my wife and we enjoy traveling to areas of history.
We have been to the east coast of the United States on a couple of occasions. We enjoy the history that we see at Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia where you can stand on the same floor boards as George Washington and Patrick Henry and look through the same panes of glass that our forefathers looked through. It is a unique setting in that the people and buildings are as they were in 1774, before we became a country.
When my family originally came to the United States from England and Ireland, we settled in Vergennes, Vermont. Our family still has a farm there and a home that has been occupied by our family for four hundred years. We have been to Washington, D.C and looked through museums. We have been to New York City and traveled by train to Boston and then walked the freedom trail. We have stayed in bed and breakfast settings all the way up to Maine and seen the colors of Fall when the leaves on the trees change.
We are members of Capital Christian Center in Meridian. We are part of the leadership of that ministry and seek to make visitors welcome by greeting them as they arrive and are involved in many other activities. If you do not have a church home, we welcome you to try us on for size.
